Jonathan Makeley

A Person Working to Help Build a Better Future for New York

Greetings, I am Jonathan Makeley and I am running as a candidate for the 146th district of the New York State Assembly.

I am a historian, specializing in American reform movements. I am the town historian of Angelica, New York. I am a graduate of Alfred University and in the Masters program at UB. Since I was in high school, I have had an interest in politics and in activities to help benefit the communities I live in (from involvement in historical societies and library groups, to volunteering on political campaigns, to advocating on various issues, such as improving education, temperance, encouraging stronger laws against corruption.

I decided to run for state assembly in order to promote policies that would the people of New York and to promote a politics based in moral principle, public service, and advancing the wellbeing of the people.

I am running to help offer a positive alternative for voters who want something more than what the major parties have to offer. For voters who want someone who will champion ethical public service and policies to benefit the people. For voters who want someone who will campaign against the corruption, negative policies, and political indifference which is holding back our state.

I am seeking to get on ballot through an independent nominating petition. If I can gather at least 1500 verified signatures from qualified voters in the district (which comprises of the towns of Amherst and Pendleton) than I can get on ballot.

I will do my best to reach  people and make as much of a positive impact as I can. Though it will take the help of others in order to help move this campaign forward. I hope you will join me in working to make a positive impact.
